Development of cooperation between the universities of Tomsk and Iran

13 Iranian applicants have been registered for the 2020 admission campaign at Tomsk State University. The applicants chose such areas of training as information technology, mathematical analysis, modeling of robotic systems, economics, geology, landscape architecture, museology and philosophy.
Now cooperation between Tomsk and Iran is mainly in the field of research. This was mentioned by the Tomsk Governor Sergei Zhvachkin in a recent conversation with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia Kazem Jalali. The online meeting was held on July 9.
As the Governor of the Tomsk Region emphasized that Tomsk is the student capital of Russia. Young people from 93 countries study at the city’s universities, a world-class scientific and educational center is being created and high-tech production is developing.
TSU accepted the first Iranian student in 2017, he entered the bachelor’s degree at the Department of International Relations of the Faculty of History. In 2018, the number of Iranian students rose to five. Now there are two Iranian students at TSU. Moreover, this year a student from Iran took 1st place in the regional round of the Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language "Time to learn Russian!"
The press service of the administration of the Tomsk region reported that the Tomsk governor and the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran agreed to create a joint working group, which will propose the most effective directions of cooperation for consideration by the head of the region and the head of the diplomatic mission. From the Tomsk side, the activities of the working group will be coordinated by the Deputy Governor for Economics Andrei Antonov.
