The North Ossetian State University and the University of Tehran will develop scientific and educational projects in the field of history and linguistics. This was announced at an online round table dedicated to the cooperation of NOSU with one of the leading and oldest classical universities in Iran. The anchor partner will be the IRAS Institute — the largest Iranian scientific and expert-analytical center dealing with the problems of Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
Since 2016, NOSU has been actively developing academic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The North Ossetian State University cooperates with the Allameh Tabatabai University (Tehran). There is a regular exchange of students and teachers between universities. The joint Master’s program "Iran in the Modern World" is being implemented for the third year. NOSU will release the first specialists in the field of "Oriental Studies" in 2022.
IN 2017, the First International Scientific and Practical Conference "Iran and the North Caucasus: History and Prospects of Cooperation" was held in the NOSU.

A memorial bust of the famous Persian poet, author of the epic poem "The Shahnameh" (The Book of Kings) Ferdowsi was unveiled in the NOSU.

In 2019, the Iranian Ambassador to Russia awarded NOSU for outstanding work in the study of the Persian language.
In the Concept of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation, approved by President Vladimir Putin, the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the most important key regional priorities. Iran is simultaneously a Middle Eastern, Caucasian, Central Asian, and Caspian country. To assist Iran in the training of national personnel, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation allocates state scholarships for the admission of Iranian citizens to study in Russian universities.
